The December issue of Seafood International magazine named Icelandic USA's, Yuengling Lager Panko Breaded Scallops one of the best new products of 2010. The annual selection features the latest innovations in product development in the seafood industry and this year, featured more than 75 products, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Icelandic USA.

Earlier this year Icelandic USA, Inc., rejoined forces with D.G. Yuengling & Son, America's oldest brewery since 1829, to announce the launch of Yuengling Lager Panko Breaded Scallops. The newest addition to the Yuengling Lager line of Icelandic products, these Scallops are breaded, not battered and offer a unique combination of Yuengling Lager and Panko Breadcrumbs.

Ron Basch, Vice President, Technical Services at Icelandic USA, oversaw the Research and Development team that was integral in the creation of this unique product coating. "We developed the Yuengling Lager Panko Breaded Scallops by marrying our expertise of beer battered technology with the latest in breading innovations" said Basch. "Our system for coating addresses adhesion issues associated with scallops, providing a crispy, crunchy texture. It's the first of its kind in the industry.

Icelandic is exceedingly proud of the recognition for their advancements in new product development. Basch noted, "It's an honor for Icelandic and our team to be recognized for developing one of the best new products of 2010 - the acknowledgement shows that we are strong in the value-added arena and that we are one of the most innovative leaders in the industry. Our Research and Development team works diligently to ensure that Icelandic USA is always on the forefront of the latest innovations and cutting edge food technology."
