Britain's favourite name in seafood, Young's, has once again sponsored the annual British Fish Craft Championship - a celebration of traditional fishmonger skills which takes place this weekend as part of the Cardiff Harbour Festival, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Findus.

The Young's Fish Craft Championship, which is organised by the National Federation of Fishmongers, includes demonstrations of fish craft skills, cookery demonstrations and the Welsh Oyster Opening Championships. Duncan Lucas of Young's - himself a former National Fish Craft Champion on four occasions - will be on hand to demonstrate fish handling skills and pass on hints and tips during Saturday, as well as leading the judging panel for the Fish Craft competition on Sunday.

Duncan says, "The Young's Fish Craft Championship is the premier event for British fishmongers, requiring many different skills including skinning, filleting, boning, dressing and preparing shellfish. Given the huge variety of species of fish we eat, the competitors need both dexterity and versatility and the title of Fish Craft Champion is highly coveted."

Around 30 competitors will be involved in Sunday's competition and are required to demonstrate no fewer than 14 different craft skills.

The Young's British Fish Craft Championship will be held at Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff 28/30 August 2010.
