Ukrainians keep supplying krill to Russia

The Ukrainian fishing company OAO Interrybflot (plc) is the only operator engaged in expedition krill fishery, a Ukrainian fishery industry insider told RFR.

Through the year of the expedition's operations the fleet harvests ca.2000 tonnes, of which ca.1000 tonnes are shipped to Chile and 1000 tonnes are landed in the Ukraine. From the Ukraine about 70%, 700 tonnes namely, are exported to Russia and 30% are sold on the domestic market.

In the Ukraine the raw krill is used mainly for canning. Frozen krill is available in retail shops at about 25 hryvnia (ca.5 USD) per kilo.
