Sealord's Nelson-based coated products plant is getting an upgrade with new equipment for coating, frying and packing plus a replacement for the freezer belt, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Sealord.

It's the forerunner of an exciting new range of Sealord products and enhancements to the present family favourites which are due to begin hitting the supermarket shelves later this year.

Sealord is the market leader in coated fish products in New Zealand and intends to remain in that position, said New Zealand Marketing Manager Pauline Rixon.

The company aims to inspire consumers to love seafood. The products the company is launching will bring fresh tastes to the family range and create some exciting premium meal options for home entertainers.

The new equipment for the coated plant is scheduled to arrive in Nelson late April and to be commissioned and running by the end of June.

As well as creating flexibility and the ability to make small runs of boutique products, it will reduce the changeover time from one product to another, reduce dust in the plant and improve health and safety practices.
