Seafood harvest in Kaliningrad jumped almost by 50%

In January-February 2009 Kaliningrad fishermen increased their catches by 49.7% as compared to the same period last year, reports ( with reference to Kaliningradfirst.

More specifically, the region's harvest jumped to 20,700 tonnes. Production of frozen fish less herring in the first two months of 2009 rose by 19.7% to 14,900 tonnes, the output of smoked seafood rose 4.7 times to 42.5 tonnes, and that of all herring products also increased by 93.2% to 1300 tonnes.

At the same time, commodity output including canned fish dropped by 8.9% to 33,000 tonnes, the output of canned and marinated fish decreased by 22.7% to 25.7 million nominal cans of fish.
