Seafood exports from Kamchatka in 2006

In the year 2006 export supplies of seafood from Kamchatka amounted to 359.7 million USD or 3.8% down on 2005, according to Krestyanskie Vedomosti.

Seafood products were exported by 75 Kamchatka-based companies. The shares of such producers as OAO Okeanrybproduct (plc), JSC ZAO Akros, Imeni Lenina fishing co-op, JSC ZAO Kamchatimpeks and OOO Polluks (ltd) totally amounted to 49.2% of the province's seafood exports.

In volume terms, Kamchatka's export of mollusks increased 9.5-fold, while exports of shellfish and canned fish rose by 26.7% and 3.3% correspondingly. At the same time export supplies of salted fish increased by 80.9%, fishmeal - by 22%, while export of frozen fish and fillets dropped by 12%.

The share of products exported to South Korea amounted to 65.5%, Japan - 17.4%, the USA - 8.5% and China - 5.8%.

The share of seafood products sold beyond the customs zone in the total volume of Kamchatka's seafood exports amounted to 73.9% down from 76.8% in 2005.

Kamchatka-based companies sold 98.2% of fish fillets and mince and 95.4% of fishmeal beyond the 12-mile zone.
