Sakhalin reporting seafood export results for first half of 2009

Sakhalin official customs statistics shows a large boost of the province's seafood exports in the first six months of 2009, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to Fishkamchatka.

In January-June 2009 Sakhalin exported more than 40,000 tonnes of fish products worth more than 85 million RUR thus displaying a 10-fold rise from ca.4000 tonnes in volume and a 6.5-fold rise from more than 13 million RUR in value.

China imported 25,066 tonnes of cod, salmon and pollock from Sakhalin. South Korea imported 9041 tonnes of flounder, herring, pollock, Atka mackerel, saury, sea cucumber, crab legs, fish caviar/roe, milt and shrimps. Japan imported 6803 tonnes of biological resources of the same range plus ocean perch, halibut and grey sea urchin.

Sakhalin customs transferred to the federal budget 159 million RUR as customs duties, said the customs' press-secretary Yuri Gurshal.
