Russia's seafood imports continue rising

In January-April 2008 Russia's import of chilled and frozen fish has continued rising, according to the nation's Federal Customs Service.

More specifically, in terms of volume, the shipments of imported seafood increased by 3.16% from 309,700 tonnes to 300,200 tonnes.

As regards value, the Russian purchases also a considerable boost by 12.2% from 496.3 million USD to 442.4 million USD.

The released statistics is indicative of a further big potential of the Russian seafood market driven by the population's rising welfare and increasing consumer sophistication.
