The Directive of Russian vets No. FS-NV-4/3254 dated 10 April 2008 has suspended the temporary restrictions for import of finfish and non-finfish products into the territory of Russian Federation from the plants which have not been approved by Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor from Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Chile. According to an official release received by http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (www.fishnet.ru).

The new directive will apply to the period from 1 May 2008 to 1 September 2008.

In this situation, the directive of Rosselkhoznadzor No. FS-GK-4/889 dated 31 January 2008 has been invalidated.

The Russian vets describe the suspension as a move to help the suppliers of this country adjust to the forthcoming switch to export from Russia-approved factories only.
