Russian vets strengthening control of products from Armenia, Thailand, Vietnam, China

Due to discovery of forbidden and harmful substances in fish and non-finfish products coming to the Russian Federation Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has strengthened control of products imported from fish processing plants of Armenia, Thailand, Vietnam and China, reports www.megafishnet.com  (www.fishnet.ru ) with reference to the Service.

More specifically, according to the Service's Directive FS-AS - 4/4112 dated 30 April 2010, the following plants are subject to strengthened veterinary control:

  1. Armenia - ООО "BAKSS" (bacteria of the colibacillus group in crayfish);
  2. Thailand - Plant No. 3132 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms, БГКП, fungi and yeast in bigeye);
  3. Vietnam - Plant No. NK 173 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in bigeye);
  4. China - Plants:
    № 3100/02059 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in tilapia fillet);
    № 3700/02883 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in Blue whiting).
