Russian vets strengthen control of products coming from several foreign plants

Due to discovery of forbidden and harmful substances in fish and non-finfish products coming to the Russian Federation Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has strengthened control of products imported from three fish processing plants, reports www.megafishnet.com  (www.fishnet.ru ) with reference to the Service.

More specifically, according to the Service's Directive No. FS-NV-4/4452 dated 11 May 2010, the following plants are subject to strengthened veterinary control:

  • Denmark - Plant No. DK 56 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms);
  • Canada - Plant No. 3128 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in shrimp);
  • China - Plant No. 4400/02218 (excessive volume of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in tilapia fillet).
