In order to avoid importation to the Russian Federation of hazardous seafood in terms of veterinary and sanitary safety, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on importation of such products from the non-approved fish processing plants of Mauritania as of 1 May 2009, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to the Service.

The restrictions have been introduced under the Service's directive No. FS-NV-4/3562 dated 20 April 2009.

Products shipped from non-approved Mauritanian plants after 1 May 2009 are not allowed to be imported to the territory of the Russian Federation.
