Russian vets imposing temporary restrictions for seafood importation from China

Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of fish, fish products and non-finfish products from a Chinese plant, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to the Service.

More specifically, according to the Service's directive No. FS-NV-4/14382 dated 10th of December 2009 due to discovery, during monitoring tests, of forbidden and harmful components in fish products coming from China and processed at the plant No. 4600/02020, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of fish, fish products and non-finfish products from the plant as of 20 December 2009.In the event of products shipped before 20th of December 2009 the procedure of products clearance shall be performed in accordance with the existing rules. Regional offices of Rosselkhoznadzor shall take sample from each product lot to conduct laboratory tests for forbidden and harmful components according to the directive of Rosselkhoznadzor No.FS-NV-2/9959 dated 14 September 2009.
