Russian vet service circulates extended list of approved Vietnamese exporters of seafood

In its letter dated 17 October 2007 to Vietnam's National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (abridged to NAFIQAVED, a body working under the nation's Ministry of Fisheries) Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor has informed that the violations of the Vietnamese plants which were revealed by the Russian vets during the inspections from 7 to 18 July 2007 have not been eliminated in full extent and not at all the plants as revealed during the repeated checks from 16 to 29 September 2007, a spokesman of the Russian veterinary body told http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/).

Therefore Rosselkhoznadzor says it cannot approve all the Vietnamese plants willing to export their seafood products to the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Rosselkhoznadzor continues saying that in view of the long-term friendly relationship between the two countries, a drive towards mutually beneficial economic development as well as considering the guarantees of NAFIQAVED as to take the necessary measures in order to secure veterinary and sanitary safety of exported seafood Rosselkhoznadzor thinks it possible to approve the following plants for export of their seafood to the Russian Federation as of 4 October 2007:

Rosselkhoznadzor has entitled the marine ports of Saint Petersburg and Vladivostok to be the entry ports for the Vietnamese seafood products exported to the Russian Federation.

In order to control shipments of the Vietnamese seafood to the Russian Federation Rosselkhoznadzor has also forwarded the list of Vietnamese fish processing companies approved for export of their seafood products to the Russian Federation and the Russian importers holding valid contracts with the above Vietnamese establishments.

In its letter Rosselkhoznadzor has also asked NAFIQAVED to confirm consent to the above mentioned list in the shortest possible time.

Besides, Rosselkhoznadzor has reserved the right to conduct further inspections the Vietnamese fish processing plants for compliance with the Russian veterinary and sanitary standards.
