Russian import of pangasius from Vietnam reaching new heights
Export to Russia in January 2008 amounted to 7,310 tonnes in volume and USD 12.786 million in value, according to VASEP figures.
In comparison with the same period 2007 the increase has amounted to 69.6% in volume and more than 49% in value. Russia has kept the position of one of the fastest growing markets for Vietnam, surpassing the average growth rates which stood at 37.8 % in value and 52.8% in volume for all destinations put together.
The average price of the product decreased in comparison with January 2007 and reached 1.75 USD/kg (1.99 USD/kg for the same period of 2007).
Ukraine
Ukrainian import of pangasius from Vietnam increased by 58.7% in volume terms and by 41.1% in value terms. More specifically, the total volume of export from Vietnam to Ukraine amounted to 2,416 tonnes (USD 4.015 million).
