Russian government to raise profile of Centre of fisheries monitoring and communication

On 12 March 2008 the Russian government issued an order to create a new more advanced Federal Centre of Fisheries Monitoring and Communication under the Russia's State Fisheries Committee, said Russian government press service.

The new establishment will monitor exploitation of water biological resources and control Russian vessels activities. The new agency will also provide for functioning and development of onshore GMDSS facilities for rescue and salvation purposes.

Russia's State Fisheries Committee was ordered to define the list of all necessary property and hardware and collect the necessary consents from the Russian Ministry of Property.
