Russian government announcing routine closures for red king crab fishery 2011 in Barents Sea

Under the order No. 1003 dated 7 December 2010 Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency has announced routine closures for red king crab fishery in the Barents Sea in 2011, reports www.megafishnet.com.

According to the order, the red king crab fishery (except for research operations) is banned in 2011 in:

  • Territorial sea and inland waters of the Barents Sea of Russian Federation as of 1 January 2011 till 31 December 2011;
  • In Russian EEZ and continental shelf of the Barents Sea of Russian Federation as of 1 January 2011 till 15 August 2011 and as of 16 December 2011 till 31 December 2011;
  • in the part of continental shelf of Russian Federation limited in the North by 68 degrees, in the South, West and East by the outer border of the Territorial Sea of Russian Federation as of 1 January 2011 till 31 December 2011.
