Russian Exports of APO Fillets to Europe Recovering

April 10, 2007 16:46

The Russian Federation increased exports of Alaska pollock fillets to the German market by 78% to 28 000 tonnes in 2006, according to Globefish.

This increase contrasts with a 30% fall in supplies from the Russian Federation in 2005 and marks the end of a trend which has seen Russian supplies fall from over 60 000 tonnes in 2001.

Similar import trends were evident in the French Alaska pollock market last year with increases in fillet sales from the Russian Federation.

Russia doubled volumes to over 4000 tonnes (nevertheless China still keeps its number one supplier position with its imports growing by 30%).
