Russia and India signing seafood safety memo

During the meeting in Russia's Ministry of Agriculture on 28 July 2009 the nation's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor and India's Council on export inspection of the Ministry of Trade and Industry have signed a memorandum regarding food and biological safety of seafood products meant for export from India to Russia, reports www.fishnet-russia.com (www.fishnet.ru) with reference to the Russian vets.

From the Russian side the memo was signed by deputy head of Rosselkhoznadzor Mr. Nikolay Vlasov and from the Indian side the document was signed by chairman of seafood export development body Ms. Lina Nair.

The memo is aimed at developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the sphere of veterinary and sanitary requirements and requirements to safety of seafood and aquaculture products.
