Rosselkhoznadzor resumed issuing seafood export permits for Murmansk companies

As per late February 2007 the Russian veterinary and phytosanitary service Rosselkhoznadzor resumed issuing export permits for seafood products which had been piling up in the largest coldstore of Murmansk Fish Port for nearly one month, trading sources in Murmansk told FISHNET-RUSSIA.COM.

Actually during that period more than 3000 tonnes of export-bound seafood would not move in Murmansk Oblast, while other seafood lots meant for the domestic market were dispatched from the port's coldstores without any delays.

The permits were reportedly delayed due to a switch to tighter control of legal origins of export production but the exporters were not quite happy with the new routine because it involved longer paperwork including dispatch of the permits for approval to Moscow.
