Producer of pike, carp and catfish to double output

In 2007 OAO "Fish Combine "Lyuban" based in Minskaya Oblast (Belarus) is planning to breed 1,850 tonnes of fish that is 2.4 times up on the same period of 2006, when the production of its farms amounted to 770 tonnes, as a spokesman of the enterprise told Interfax.

By late November 2007 the harvest of market-size fish has already amounted to 1,833 tonnes.

OAO "Fish Combine "Lyuban" specializes in farming of carps. Its share in total volume of fish production comprises up to 90%. Besides the enterprise breeds pike, silver carp, grass carp and catfish.

Next year the company is planning to rebuild its hatchery department to double its capacity on the existing one. About 14 million carp larvae, 4 million pike larvae and 3 million catfish larvae will be produced there. The design work has already completed the construction work is supposed to start at the beginning of 2008. The project value is estimated to be about 500 million BYR.
