Norwegian veterinary service rejecting Russian fish products

October 13, 2006 13:37

Norwegian veterinary inspectors from Kirkenes have been unsatisfied with alleged high temperature of fish landed by Russian trawler Alferas, owner JSC ZAO Murmanseld-2, therefore finding the cargo unfit for sale both on the Norwegian and Russian market, according to www.murman.rfn.ru.

The company’s general director Yuri Zadvorny reportedly dismissed the claims as groundless saying he is not going to take the case to court in order to avoid extra costs. The shipowner said he would be taking the cargo to other destination and sending the trawler back to the grounds.

Zadvornyi has described the Norwegian action as part of the apparent trade war between Norway and Russia and warned that his vessels would cease calling at Norwegian ports.
