No changes on Russian market of seabass and seabream

September 28, 2006 16:20

By late September the Russian market has shown no considerable drop of prices for seabass and seabream, according to trading sources in Saint Petersburg which is the main entry port for seafood importation into Russia.

The thing is that in summer demand for seabass and seabream in Russia is traditionally on the rise as compared to other months.

In summer the Russian population consumes larger amounts of those species than during the New Year/Christmas period. The trend can be explained by the fact that the Russians, who are always longing for the sea and enjoying the Mediterranean cuisine, associate sea bass and sea bream first of all with fish for grill or barbecue.
