Mixed trends in mackerel exports to Russia

In the period from January to August 2007 Norwegian exports of frozen whole mackerel Russia fell by 43% from 5816 to 3342 tonnes, according to Globefish.

On the other hand, in exports to Russia the highest unit values were achieved.

During the same period Russia remained as the biggest UK market and increased its uptake of frozen whole fish from 15776 tonnes to 20291 tonnes, a rise of 29%. While the unit value fell by 32% from 1.35 pounds per kg to 0.92 pounds per kg this was still above the average of 0.84 pounds per kg for this country's exports.
