Working meeting between Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, and Zurab Chekurashvili, Head of the National Food Agency

Sergey Dankvert noted growth of food product supply from Georgia in the first half this year. Zurab Chekurashvili stressed that this growth is the result of trust-based relationships between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Georgian Food Agency. He remarked that Georgia is ready to increase export of citrus fruit, peaches, apples, pears, and quince and start export of animal products - mutton, live sheep as well as trout and honey.  Herewith, Georgia is interested in import of Russian seeds and genetic material for breeding. Zurab Chekurashvili also informed Sergey Dankvert on measures taken to control ASF in Georgia. It is known that the country lost more than 80% of the national pig population as a result of the outbreak. Issues related to rabies control in the wild were also discussed during the meeting.
