Seafood export results to October 2020 show different trends for value and volume

Rosstat’s provisional figures for the Russian seafood exports to October 2020 show different trends for value and volume, according to Megafishnet.com.

In volume terms, exports of fish, fish products and shellfish for January-October 2020 amounted to 1,912. 5 thousand tons or 124.5 thousand tons (7%) more than for the same period in 2019, according to Rosrybolovstvo.

In value terms, exports for 10 months amounted to 4,337. 6 million US dollars, which is 104 million US dollars (2.3%) less on the same period last year.

In the product structure 87.4% is frozen fish, 5.5% - crustaceans, shellfish and other aquatic invertebrates, 5.2% – fish fillets and other fish meats, 1.3% – prepared or canned fish products, 0.3% - fresh or chilled fish.

The increase in exports of fish products from the Russian Federation in January-October 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, was due to prepared or canned fish products growing up to 25.7 thousand tons (up 57.4 % or 9.4 thousand tons).

Frozen fish also went up by 8.2%, or 126 thousand tons to 1,671.5 thousand tons.

Fish fillets and other fish meats displayed a rise by 3.1 %, or 3 thousand tons up to 99.6 thousand tons.

Exports of crustaceans, shellfish and other invertebrates decreased by 11.7% or 13.8 thousand tons to 104.6 thousand tons.
