Overview of Russia’s Alaska pollock market in 2018
In 2018 Russian fishing companies harvested 1.668 million metric tons of Alaska pollock, of which 1.064 tonnes in the Sea of Okhotsk and 326,000 tonnes in the West Bering Sea zone. As compared to 2017 (1.68 million MT), the harvest declined by 1% or 11,000 tonnes, reports www.megafishnet.com.
APO exports totaled 807,000 tonnes, 8.06% down on 2017. In round weight exports accounted for 75% of the harvest, namely 1.25 million MT. Headed APO was the major export article, its main destination was China. Besides, Russian companies exported a lot of w/r pollock to South Korea.
APO exports headed and gutted decreased by 60,000 tonnes, w/r APO – by 42,000 tonnes, while exports of APO fillets rose by 30,000 tonnes.

South Korean companies purchased 176,186.07 tonnes of Russian pollock w/r at USD0.91 per kilo on the average. Exports to China amounted to 28,195.02 metric tons. Shipments to South Korea and China accounted for 99.7% of the total shipments volume.
