DYNAMICS OF RUSSIAN SEAFOOD EXPORT IN JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2012

In January-February 2012 Russian exporters sold to the world market nearly 288,300 MT of seafood at the total statistical value of ca.USD 405.7 million (the figures do not cover export shipments from beyond the Russian EEZ). More than 51% from the above volume was represented by frozen Alaska pollock which was shipped mostly to China and South Korea, reports www.megafishnet.com.

 

Through the period under analysis 229 Russian companies supplied seafood to the world market. OAO Okeanrybflot (plc) became the leading exporter both in volume and value with a results of more than 31,600 MT (10.96%) and USD 31.6 million (12.36%).

In January-February 2012 87 foreign companies imported Russian seafood. Chinese company SHANDONG HUAMING INTERNATIONAL TRADING CO., LTD became leader in volume terms with a result of 84.62% or 243,930 MT. The same company became leader in value terms with a result of 87.21% or nearly USD 353.8 million.

Russian fish was exported under 64 HSCs and the most important export article was frozen Alaska pollock (51.04% or 147,100 MT) which was shipped mostly to China and South Korea.

Russian seafood was exported to 30 countries of the world with the lion’s share purchased by Chinese importers (67.42% or more than 194,000 MT).
