Cut of Russia's import quota for pork and poultry may increase fish market capacity

August 18, 2011 16:33

The recent cut of import quota for pork and poultry for 2012 will decrease meat consumption and respectively increase fish market, Timur Mitupov, head of Analysis Centre of Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency's Information Division told http://www.megafishnet.com/.

The Russian government has fixed import quota for pork for 2012 as 320 th.MT (472.1 in 2011) and 250 th. MT for poultry (350 in 2011).  It is assumed that domestic meat products and fish will fill the resulting shortfall in the imported protein.
