Marine Stewardship Council сalling for tenders: Chain of Custody Benchmarking

August 3, 2010 14:14

The Marine Stewardship Council is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to develop a system to benchmark the MSC Chain of Custody standard against other similar standards in seafood supply chains, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to MSC.

The project

As part of the MSC's commitment to reduce duplication of audit elements of the Chain of Custody standard and other similar standards, MSC is tendering a contract for delivery of a process to assist accredited certifiers to combine audits.

The project scope entails a comparative exercise of multiple Chain of Custody type standards (i.e. BRC, SQF, HACCP, ISO 22000) to identify the overlapping and additional requirements.

The MSC program

The MSC operates an exciting and ambitious program, working with partners to transform the world's seafood markets and promote sustainable fishing practices. The MSC certification program gives fisheries a way to independently confirm sustainability, a competitive edge in the marketplace, and an assurance to buyers that the fish comes from a well managed and sustainable source.
