Marine Stewardship Council Announces Two New Directors and a Staff Promotion in the Americas Region

Kerry Coughlin, Regional Director of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Americas, announced today the replacement hiring of two senior leaders and the promotion of a current team member, and said bringing the Americas team back up to full staff is one of her top priorities in order to meet the rapidly growing interest and participation in the MSC's internationally recognized certification program for seafood sustainability, reports with reference to MSC.  
About the changes

Mike DeCesare has been named Communications Director, Geoff Bolan has been appointed Commercial Director and Mark MacPherson, who has served as Commercial Manager since 2008, has been promoted to Senior Commercial Manager.   In announcing the appointments Coughlin said: "I'm pleased to have Mark stepping up in this way, and excited to have filled the key director vacancies with two highly skilled and experienced people, both of whom were attracted to MSC by our mission and the opportunity to significantly expand program participation and partnerships to make an even greater difference in the health and abundance of the world's oceans."
Background on Mike DeCesare

Mike DeCesare joins MSC after more than six years working in Washington, D.C., most recently serving as Chief of Staff and Communications Director for a senior Member of the U.S. House of Representatives.  In that role Mike managed a global communications strategy that frequently meant interaction with key media across the U.S. and overseas.  Before working in Congress, Mike worked throughout Asia Pacific for major U.S. corporate clients in software, aerospace and consumer products.  He also managed a regional office for The Rockey Company, now Rockey Hill & Knowlton.      
Background on Geoff Bolan

Geoff Bolan comes to MSC with over 20 years experience launching and growing enterprises in the for-profit and non-profit sectors worldwide.  He has held executive and leadership roles with TravelCLICK, McDonalds, iExplore, and Conservation International.  In these positions he has managed projects and teams in a range of fields including environmental conservation, clean technology, online travel and hospitality, food, and strategy consulting; and worked closely with large international brands , as well as small entrepreneurs and communities.     
Background on Mark MacPherson

Since early 2008 when he joined MSC as Commercial Manager, Mark MacPherson has focused on outreach and program support, working with commercial partners in the areas of strategic planning, account oversight and management.  In his new role as senior commercial manager, Mark will continue to handle outreach and program support for major processors, distributors, retailers and foodservice operators, while assisting Geoff with overall planning and oversight of the commercial team.
