Vietnamese export of pangasius to Russian Federation and Ukraine in January - April 2008
The share of the Russian Federation in Vietnamese export of pangasius in the first 4 months of 2008 amounted to 18% in volume and 13.1% in value terms, according to VASEP figures received by http://www.fishnet-russia.com/ (https://www.fishnet.ru/ ).

In April 2008 the export volume from Vietnam to Russia amounted to 3827 tonnes at the value USD6.007 million. Thus, in April the volume of export of pangasius into Russian Federation decreased by 46.1% in comparison with the same period 2007 and export value came down by 58.2%.
The average price per kilo in Russia in April 2008 decreased to USD1.57 per kilo (in comparison with the level of USD2.03 per kilo in 2007). The average price in the Ukraine also decreased in 2008 but surpassed the level of pangasius' price in Russia amounting to USD 1.77 per kilo (USD1.84 per kilo in April 2008).
In January - April 2008 the export volume to Russia from Vietnam displayed considerable growth amounting to 28,450 tonnes at the value USD48.187 million that is up 35.6% in volume and up 15.1% in value in comparison with the same period of 2007.
Ukraine
Supplies of Vietnamese pangasius to the Ukrainian market in April 2008 reached 3414 tonnes, up more than 122% in comparison with the year 2007. In value terms, the supplies to Ukraine increased by 114% amounting to USD6.058 million.
In January - April 2008 export volume of Vietnamese pangasius to the Ukraine also increased by 48%. Export value in 2008 increased by more than 37% in comparison with January - April 2008. Total Ukrainian market share in Vietnamese export amounted to nearly 7% in volume and slightly more than 5% in value.
