December 4, 2014 09:26

HB Grandi’s new pelagic vessel, Venus NS, was yesterday launched at Hatsan in Turkey.

Venus is the first of the two new pelagic vessels being built for HB Grandi which has contracted for the newbuildings at the Celiktrans Deniz Insaat Ltd yard, as well as for three new fresher demersal trawlers.

According to Gardar Svavarsson, head of HB Grandi’s pelagic division, the ship was moved from Hatsan Yard in a floating dock for launching. After that the ship was tugged to the Celiktrans yard.

‘Now they are working inside and outside at full speed to finish the ship. While that’s happening, the hull of Víkingur is being made ready at Hatsan,’ Gardar Svavarsson said.

The schedule is for Venus to be ready for delivery in April next year and for the second pelagic vessel, Víkingur AK, to be ready at the end of next year. The new fresher trawlers are to be delivered in 2016 and 2017.
