By President's decree dated 22 May current Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency has been transferred under the Ministry of Agriculture, reports http://www.megafishnet.com/.

On the surface the decision has been made to defeat Mr. Krainy's (current fishery head) proposal of broader powers up to a separate ministry for the industry. However in a way this task may be solved by joining the influential ministry of Agriculture.

The critics from the fisheries are unhappy about the decision but it is understood the government is looking to make administration more efficient and cheaper while one of the goals is to cut the number of government officials by 100 000 persons.
