Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency setting up international co-operation to stop illegal crab deliveries in Pacific
Andrey Krainy, Deputy Minister of Agruiculture and Head of Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency Rosrybolovstvo, promised to stop illegal crab traffic in Pacific by the end 2012, according to http://www.megafishnet.com/.
At a recent press-conference he said that on July, 3 he signed a memorandum with Canada on IUU catch fighting. On July, 24 an Agreement with South Korea will start working. The new system will make crabbers to present to Korean port authorities a Certificate of Origin, while a copy of such a CO will be sent to the port authorities independently. If one of the copies is absent, discharge is not to be permitted.
Japan plans to sign an agreement of the sort in September, during APEC summit. An agreement with North Korea will be signed in the nearest future, and the same agreement with China - in July or August.
In such a way a certification system will cover by the end of 2012 all the North Pacific area.
