Russian vets banned import of GM fish feed from UK producer

As of March 2, 2021, Russia’s veterinary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor imposes restrictions on fish feed imports from a UK company due to the GM-content, reports Megafishnet.com.

More specifically, in the feeds made by Dynamite Baits Limited (No.32/164/8000/ABP/TEC) the Russian vets found more than 0.5% of non-registered traits and 0.9% of registered traits per each genetically modified component.

If the company’s products have been shipped for Russia before the restrictions entered into force (order No.FS-Arg-7/3677-3 dated 16.02.2021), on their arrival to the country they will be thoroughly checked for presence of unregistered GM-components.

In Russia, since 2016, Federal Law No. 358 prohibits the import and use of GM plant seeds for sowing, and it is also prohibited to grow and breed GM plants and GM animals, except for research purposes.
