December 18, 2013 11:54

The meeting was held at the initiative of the Canadian party and was devoted to the recent appointment of John Kur as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to the Russian Federation, according to Rosselkhoznadzor.

During the talks the parties noted with satisfaction the fruitful cooperation between the competent authorities of Canada and Russia in the filed of safety of food supplied from Canada within the ad hoc working groups of technical specialists of the Rosselkhoznadzor and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Sergey Dankvert noted that despite the decreased trade circulation between Canada and Russia during the current year the year of 2014 would be more favourable. The Canadian party emphasized the adherence of the Canadian competent authorities to the priority task of ensuring compliance of food exported from Canada with the applicable CU requirements. In this respect the Russian party expressed its satisfaction with the implemented traceability system for food products supplied to the CU countries.

The parties confirmed their intention to arrange a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the international exhibition fair “Green Week – 2014” in Berlin (Germany) for CFIA to ratify the Requirements to meat product transportation from Canada to the RF/CU.

Besides, the parties agreed to arrange in the nearest future a number of scheduled working teleconferences at the Rosselkhoznadzor and CFIA in order to discuss the issues concerning meat and fish exports from Canada to the Russian Federation.
