Rosselkhoznadzor Participates in 11th Session of Commission on Phytosanitary Measures in Rome

The 11th session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures, governing the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) was held in Rome (Italy) housed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor. 

300 representatives from more than 170 nations ICCP member countries as well as from regional plant protection organizations took part in the event. 

The Russian federation was represented by Head of the Directorate for Phytosanitary Surveillance and Seed Control Irina Andreyevskaya.

In the course of the event the participants addressed the strategic issues of phytosanitary safety improvement and development, reviewed and exchanged the data about the activities of NPPOs, presented the reports of regional working meetings on draft international phytosanitary standards, listened to the 2015 financial report and presentation on e-Phyto system introduction, adjusted the process of IPPC standard development and held a special meeting on sea containers standard drafting.

The Russian party also met the representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture from France, Netherlands, Israel and Iran on the margins of the session and discussed the phytosanitary control of plant products. Besides, the CPM Secretariat organized the BRICS countries meeting in order to discuss the possibilities of cooperation expansion in the plant quarantine area. The representatives of Russian, Chinese, Brazilian and Indian NPPOs took part in the meeting. In the course of the meeting the parties agreed to continue their cooperation in plant quarantine, interact in international standard translation, organize seminars and exchange information.
