Businesses based in Kamchatka have big plans for 2021 as regards new fish processing factories and fishing vessels, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to Kamchatka government, the province will continue expanding value added seafood production. The year 2021 will feature completion of five more investment projects for the construction of modern high-tech fish processing plants. As a result, some 500 new jobs will be created in the region.

Along with the above, Kamchatka companies are building 16 more fishing vessels: 5 large processor trawlers, 5 medium-sized seiner-trawlers, 6 small fishing vessels and 1 medium crabber.

In the years to follow, it is planned to expand the range of marine products and increase the output of value added products.

Every year, Kamchatka companies produce about 1.1 million MT of fish products, of which 130 thousand tonnes are value added products.

Lenin

In 2020, Lenin fishing co-op from the region’s capital of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Fishing collective farm named after V. I. Lenin) commissioned a year-round factory for onshore fish processing. According to the project, this factory of large capacity will produce a wide range of more than 200 various finished products such as fillets of pollock, cod and salmon, as well as canned, smoked, and salted fish products. This is the largest investment project in Kamchatka’s fisheries sector over the past 10 years.

Tymlatsky

Tymlatsky Fish Processing Plant LLC is another high-tech production facility opened in the region last year. The plant produces Omega-3 capsules, which have gained fame throughout Russia. This state-of-the art facility features waste-free deep processing of salmon harvested in Kamchatka. The plant reduces fish waste into fishmeal, and fish heads are used for the production of dietary supplements.

Kamchattralflot

Owned by Kamchattralflot LLC modern complex for deep processing of fish will reach its design capacity in 2021. The company plans to significantly expand its product range.

Maksimovsky and Ozernovsky

In the year 2020 two investment projects for the construction and refurbishment of fish processing complexes were implemented in Kamchatka. They were RPZ Maksimovsky LLC in the village of Ivashka, Karaginsky district, and JSC Ozernovsky RKZ No. 55 (refurbishment of fishmeal/fishoil facility in the village of Ozernovsky, Ust-Bolsheretsky district).

Also in 2020, Lenin fishing co-op built medium-tonnage trawler-seiners Leninets, Komandor and Vasily Kaplyuk under the government program of investment quotas (linked to obligations to build new vessels/plants in Russia). The trawlers are equipped with RSW tanks to store chilled fish for further onshore processing.
