INGUNN HANDED OVER

July 20, 2015 09:05

Earlier this week Ingunn AK was handed over to its new owners, Vinnslustöðin í Vestmannaeyjum (VSV) and has been renamed Ísleifur VE.

The sale of Ingunn is part of the overall renewal of the HB Grandi fleet. The magnificent new Venus NS has replaced Ingunn and in December Faxi RE will also be handed over to VSV. At around the same time the new Víkingur AK is expected to be delivered, the second of the company’s newbuilds under construction in Turkey. The company’s plans are to operate only two pelagic vessels in future and Lundey NS will be laid up when Víkingur arrives.

Ingunn was built in 2000 for HB in Akranes and has always been a top catcher. It has been skippered throughout its career by Gudlaugur Jónsson, now skipper of Venus. Ingunn’s handover was sealed with a handshake between skipper Gudlaugur Jónsson and Helgi Geir Vilhjálmsson who will skipper the ship opposite Eyjólfur Gudjónsson.
