Icelandic fish catches in June 2011

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in June 2011 was 80,224 tonnes compared to 85,181 tonnes in June 2010. Demersal species accounted for nearly 37 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 9 thousand tonnes, haddock 2 thousand tonnes, redfish 5 thousand tonnes and saithe 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 40 thousand tonnes, thereof mackerel 24 thousand tonnes and herring 15 thousand tonnes, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 5.8% in June 2011 compared with June 2010. In the first six months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 6.8% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
