Germany Imposed Restrictions on Exportation Laboratory Test-Kits into Russia

April 23, 2014 17:24

The Rosselkhoznadzor was notified of the fact that from April 1 this year the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) of Germany excluded Russia from the list of countries having privileges for importation of dual-use commodities from Germany. The BAFA considers RIDASCREEN® and SureFood Test-Kits to be among such commodities.

In this respect the Rosselkhoznadzor finds it necessary to clarify that ELISA test-kits Ridascreen are supposed for detection of residual banned harmful substances in food raw material and finished food products as well as in animal feed, and polymerase chain reaction test-kits Sure Food are used for detection of GMO, allergens, pathogens and for plant and animal DNA specification.

The Rosselkhoznadzor widely uses such test-kits for detection of dangerous and adulterated food including food imported from Germany.

However imposition by the German authorities of restrictions on exportation of laboratory test-kits used for food safety analysis and considered to be dual-use commodities will have no impact on efficacy of the Rosselkhoznadzor’s food safety monitoring due to introduction of similar domestic methods developed in the Rosselkhoznadzor’s Research Centers.
