Brussels gets underway

The European Seafood Exposition in Brussels was formally opened this morning and continues until Thursday. Among those participating are a 15-strong team from HB Grandi. Alongside the Seafood Exposition itself, a sister event, Seafood Processing Europe, is being held as the platform for companies providing equipment or offering services to the seafood processing industry, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to HB Grandi.

HB Grandi marketing director Svavar Svavarsson is on duty at Brussels with his team, where he expects a good exhibition and to see a large number of visitors at stand 839-1. The President of Iceland has already visited the Icelandic national stand in Hall 6 this morning, and moved on to speak at a lunchtime speech organised by Iceland Responsible Fisheries, where Iceland's own eco-label is the centre of attention.

‘We are expecting a large showing of foreign fish buyers at that meeting, as we can see a growing interest in this internationally-acceptable Icelandic eco-label that confirms that our fisheries are responsible. The President will also be present at a special reception on the Icelandic national stand that has been organised in co-operation with the Icelandic embassy in Brussels. This reception is open to anyone attending the exhibition and I'm expecting plenty of visitors,' Svavar Svavarsson said.

The European Seafood Exposition in Brussels is the largest event of its kind in the world and is attended by many representatives of companies buying seafood products from producers.
