Russian Railways shipping more seafood from Vladivostok-led Primorye province

In January-April 2021, over 189.1 thousand tons of fish products were sent by rail from Primorye province (Capital Vladivostok) displaying a rise by 13.5% compared to the same period last year, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to the Russian Railways, more than 52.9 thousand tons were shipped in April only (+47.3% versus April 2020).

Transportation of seafood in containers since the beginning of the year amounted to 115.3 thousand tons (+16.2%) while 73.8 thousand tons were sent in refrigerated railway cars (+9.5%).

The main volume of fish products in January-April was shipped to the consignees of the Moscow region (85.3 thousand tons), the Urals (21.7 thousand tons) and Siberia (38.2 thousand tons).

Export shipments of fish from the Uglovaya station for 4 months of this year amounted to 13.2 thousand tons. Such transportation started in May 2020 and became an alternative to the delivery of seafood to China by road due to the quarantine restrictions.
