February 10, 2021 00:26

Russia’s Federal Agency for Fisheries (FAF) expects that in 2021 up to 50KT of fish may be shipped from the Russian Far East to the Western Russia along the Northern Sea Route, reports Megafishnet.com.

According to FAF head Ilya Shestakov, a special plan has been compiled and agreed with the relevant government departments to ship between 30 and 50 thousand metric tons of fish, mainly wild salmon, this year.

The plan provides for several trips and it includes such extra measures as subsidies for newbuilding reefers and cold storage facilities.

The reefers will mostly carry wild salmon and potentially the volumes may reach 100KT subject to proper organizational measures, concluded Shestakov.
