Rosselkhoznadzor Delegation Participates in Caspian and Black Sea Agrarian Congress

The Caspian and Black Sea Agrarian Congress took place on April 12 – 13, 2016 in Baku (Azerbaijan), organized by “APK-Inform” information and analytical agency and Ukrainian Grain Association and supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Rosselkhoznadzor.

Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Ruslan Khasanov, Director of the FGBI “Centre for Grain Quality Assessment” Yulia Koroleva and Head of the Unit for Phytosanitary Risks and International Cooperation, FGBI “VNIIKR” Sergey Potapov took part in the activities of the congress.

More than 60 companies and organizations from 22 countries became the participants of the Congress.

A wide range of issues concerning production of and trade in grain crops and products thereof, oil crops and fruits and vegetables in the Caspian and Black Sea region and in the world was discussed. 

Special attention was given to the prospects of grain and oil market development as well as of milling industry in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Iran and other countries. The potential of Transcaspian transport route for agricultural products was also addressed. In particular the transportation logistics of Russian and Kazakhstani grain to Azerbaijan and Iran, introduction of new agricultural investment and infrastructure projects as well as forecasts for export potential of the countries in the region in the short term were discussed.

The participants of the congress stressed the topical nature of this event, playing a key role for the further development of the whole Caspian and Black Sea region.
