Icelandic fish catches in September 2010

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in September 2010 was 93,736 tonnes compared to 77,464 tonnes in September 2009, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 33 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 13 thousand tonnes, haddock 4 thousand tonnes, saithe 6 thousand tonnes and redfish 5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 57 thousand tonnes, thereof herring 42 thousand tonnes and mackerel 13 thousand.


At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 2.2% in September 2010 compared with September 2009.
