Icelandic fish catches in February 2011

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in February 2011 was 210,007 tonnes compared to 106,743 tonnes in February 2010, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for nearly 34 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 18 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 5 thousand tonnes, redfish 4 thousand tonnes and saithe 2.5 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 173 thousand tonnes, thereof capelin nearly 171 thousand tonnes and pearlside over 2 thousand tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 38.7% in February 2011 compared with February 2010.
