Icelandic fish catches in February 2010

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in February 2010 was 106,704 tonnes compared to 99,696 tonnes in February 2009, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics of Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 41 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 21 thousand tonnes, haddock 7 thousand tonnes, redfish 6 thousand tonnes and saithe 3 thousand tonnes. The capelin catch was 55 thousand tonnes and the pearlside catch was 6 thousand tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 8.5% in February 2010 compared with February 2009.
