Icelandic fish catches in April 2011

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in April 2011 was 36,816 tonnes compared to 79,699 tonnes in April 2010, reports www.megafishnet.com with reference to Statistics Iceland. 

Demersal species accounted for 32 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 13 thousand tonnes, haddock 5 thousand tonnes, redfish 5 thousand tonnes and saithe 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 642 tonnes, only blue whiting

At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 17.6% in April 2011 compared with April 2010. In the first four months of 2011 the value of catch increased by 14.4% compared with the same time-period in 2010.
